AI Usage Policy

At Zeitrip, we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to make trip planning faster, easier, and less prone to manual errors. This page explains exactly how we use AI, what data is processed, and your rights regarding this feature.

  • Used only for data extraction: Our "Smart Input" feature uses AI to extract details (like dates, times, and locations) from unstructured text you paste into the app.
  • No training on your data: We do not use your personal information, itinerary details, or uploaded documents to train, fine-tune, or improve generalized AI models.
  • Third-party processors: We use industry-leading, secure third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI or Google Cloud AI) to process the text. They are contractually obligated to delete your data and not use it for their own training.
  • Opt-in usage: You are never forced to use Smart Input. You can always enter your trip details manually.

1. How we use AI (Smart Input)

The primary use of AI in Zeitrip is through our "Smart Input" feature. This feature allows you to paste unstructured text—such as booking confirmation emails, flight itineraries, or event descriptions—and automatically extract the relevant structured data needed to create a trip item (like departure time, airline, hotel name, etc.).

The goal of this feature is strictly to save you time and eliminate the need for manual data entry. We do not use AI to make automated decisions about you or to profile you.

2. What data is processed

When you use the Smart Input feature, the text or image you upload or paste into the Smart Input field is securely sent to an AI model for processing. This data may include:

  • Booking reference numbers
  • Names of passengers or guests included in the text
  • Travel dates, times, and locations
  • Accommodation details

Important: Only the specific text you explicitly paste or upload to the Smart Input field is processed by the AI. We do not automatically scan your emails, messages, or other parts of your Zeitrip account.

3. Third-party AI providers

We do not host the AI models ourselves. We partner with secure, enterprise-grade third-party providers (such as Google Cloud AI or OpenAI) via their enterprise API services.

Under our agreements with these providers:

  • They process the data solely to return the extracted information to us.
  • They do not retain the data beyond the time needed to provide the extraction service (typically zero-retention policies apply).
  • They are strictly prohibited from using your data to train or improve their own foundational AI models.

4. Our commitment: No training on your data

We understand that privacy is paramount when planning trips. Zeitrip does not use your personal data, trip details, or any information submitted through Smart Input to train, fine-tune, or develop our own AI models.

The flow of data is strictly transactional: you provide the text, the AI extracts the structure, and the transient data is discarded by the extraction service.

5. Accuracy and human oversight

While our AI models are highly capable, they are not perfect. The Smart Input feature is designed to populate a draft form for your convenience. You always have the opportunity to review, edit, and correct the extracted information before saving it to your itinerary.

We strongly recommend double-checking critical details like flight numbers, dates, and times against your original booking confirmations. Zeitrip cannot be held responsible for missed flights or lost reservations due to inaccurate AI extraction.
